Description
Miller XMT 650 ArcReach Welding Power Source
Take welding productivity to the next level with the Miller XMT 650 ArcReach. Designed for demanding fabrication, construction, and industrial welding environments, this system combines powerful multi-process welding performance with ArcReach® remote-control technology, allowing operators to control critical welding parameters directly at the point of use—even hundreds of feet from the power source.
By reducing unnecessary trips between the weld and the power source, ArcReach technology helps maximize arc-on time, operator productivity, weld consistency, and jobsite safety. The XMT 650 also provides the power required for high-productivity welding and carbon-arc gouging applications.
Key Features
- ArcReach® Technology: Allows compatible wire feeders and remotes to control welding parameters at the point of use without a traditional control cable.
- Remote Parameter Adjustment: Operators can make welding adjustments directly from a compatible ArcReach feeder or remote, even when working hundreds of feet from the power source.
- Cable Length Compensation (CLC™): Automatically compensates for voltage drop based on weld-cable length so the voltage selected by the operator is delivered more consistently at the weld.
- Adjust While Welding (AWW™): Allows compatible weld parameters to be changed while the arc is active, reducing interruptions to the welding process.
- Auto-Process Select™: Automatically selects the appropriate welding process based on the polarity applied to a compatible ArcReach accessory.
- Point-of-Use Process Selection: When paired with the ArcReach 16 wire feeder, operators can conveniently switch between compatible welding and gouging operations at the work location.
- Previous-Process Recall: After removing a compatible ArcReach accessory, the power source returns to its previous settings for faster transition between operations.
- Remote-in-Use Indicator: Provides clear feedback when an ArcReach wire feeder is controlling the power source.
- Control Lockout: While under ArcReach control, power-source process and voltage/amperage adjustments are locked to help prevent unintended changes by other personnel.
Multi-Process Welding Capability
The XMT 650 ArcReach is engineered to provide flexible performance across a broad range of welding and gouging applications.
- GMAW / MIG: Supports compatible solid-wire welding applications.
- FCAW: Supports gas-shielded and self-shielded flux-cored wire applications.
- SAW: Submerged arc welding mode provides additional flexibility for high-productivity applications.
- Stick / SMAW: Designed to support a broad range of compatible electrode types.
- Lift-Arc™ TIG: Provides TIG welding capability for compatible applications.
- Carbon Arc Gouging: Optimized gouging mode provides powerful material-removal performance with improved control.
Three Wire Modes
- Solid and flux-cored wires with shielding gas
- Self-shielded flux-cored wire
- Submerged arc welding
Optimized Gouging Performance
A dedicated gouging mode provides an optimized stick-process configuration for carbon-arc gouging. The system is designed to provide strong material-removal performance while maintaining operator control.
When used with compatible ArcReach equipment, an integrated gouging connection at the wire feeder can reduce the need for a separate dedicated gouging power source.
Adjustable Arc Control
Arc control is available in compatible Stick and solid-wire processes, allowing operators to customize arc characteristics based on personal preference, electrode selection, and joint design.
The arc can be adjusted from a softer characteristic with a more fluid puddle to a stiffer characteristic with greater puddle control. Adjustment ranges from 0–25 Soft to 0–25 Stiff, with a central Star setting optimized for many common applications.
Remote & Feeder Connectivity
- Auto Remote Sense™: Automatically recognizes and uses a compatible remote control when connected.
- 14-Pin Receptacle: Provides connectivity flexibility for compatible spool guns, wire feeders, and remote controls.
- ArcReach 16 Compatibility: Enables advanced point-of-use control and process selection with a compatible ArcReach 16 wire feeder.
Built for Demanding Environments
- IP23 Rating: Designed for demanding industrial and field operating environments.
- Wind Tunnel Technology™: Helps protect internal electrical components from airborne contaminants by directing cooling air through dedicated internal channels.
- Fan-On-Demand™: Cooling fan operates when required, helping reduce unnecessary noise and the amount of airborne contaminants drawn through the machine.
- Rugged Construction: Designed for demanding fabrication, construction, and industrial welding applications.
120V Auxiliary Power
The rear panel provides up to 20 amps of 120V auxiliary power for compatible jobsite tools and equipment such as grinders, drills, lights, and chop saws.
LED Process Indicator
Illuminated front-panel process indicators clearly identify the active welding process, allowing operators to confirm the selected mode from a distance.

Designed to Increase Jobsite Productivity
The Miller XMT 650 ArcReach is designed for operations where welders may work significant distances from the power source. By putting compatible controls directly at the feeder or remote, operators can spend less time walking back to the machine and more time welding.
For multi-operator installations, compatible rack configurations can house up to four XMT 650 power sources in one organized package, providing a practical solution for large fabrication and industrial operations.
